Lansdale has a major music history birthing bands such as Dysphoria, Inkling, XIII PFP, and The Wonder Years. Hardcore shows at VFW's, Legions, and YMCA's are all part of the backstory, however, a new legion of music and shows are sweeping the area in a re-birth of town pride and confidence. Three major players in the area, The Underground by Round Guys Brewing Company (Lansdale), Well Crafted Beer Company (Lansdale) and Imprint Brewing Company (Hatfield) are carving a niche in creating relationships with music and craft beer. Both Round Guys and Imprint have now created beers with independent bands, something that they area has never seen before. Last year, Round Guys debuted "Bumblebee Wheat Ale," inspired by the award winning "comic book rock" band, Stereotytans. Most recently, Imprint has teamed up with area band Merit for a take on "pop punk" called "Pop Punch" to coincide with the release of their most recent EP, "Living With the Low."
In the past two years, numerous music videos have been filmed at The Underground location owned by Round Guys, most notably "Silvertongue" by AM0RA and "BLISTER" by bottomshelf. Numerous shows, events, activities and beer releases are hosted each month between The Underground, Well Crafted and Imprint. Another notable figure that's taken hold of the area and nation is Annie Christ, Lansdale's very own drag queen movie host and fundraiser. This past February, Annie was the center of national coverage when she hosted the Drag Queen Story Fun Time with Miss Annie. The event drew over three hundred people and collected over twelve hundred pounds of food for local charity, Manna on Main Street.
Let's talk coffee. Over the past few years, local favorite Backyard Beans has gone from a farmers market favorite to a prime corner flagship in the heart of Lansdale. Their coffee is responsibility source, expertly roasted and made with absolute care. The overlapping joy that coffee, beer and music bring to the area is unmatched. There is an artistic and creative renaissance happening in Lansdale and the immediate surrounding area. Take hold now, because its only going to get better!
